    I'm pretty deep in the 'traditional' camp - but my go-to these days are wooden frames laced tightly with monofilament, as per my avatar. Incredibly light (almost seem magical they weigh so little...), durable, easy to knock off slush, novel look... they work!

    I've made my own frames and woven with beaver rawhide (and deer), and can't go wrong with those either. I used to prefer 'Ojibwe' style frames, but now usually use either 'Attikamek' or 'Huron' style frames.

    I have the most success with cotton lampwick bindings - simple, elegant, fast, light, inexpensive...
